House Republicans Continue Wasting Time and Taxpayer Dollars

Yesterday, 30 September 2026, the United States Senate voted no for House Resolution 7008, the Stop Insider Trading Act. Initially, this resolution had been intended to curb and prevent stock trading by members of congress. The bill underwent significant changes while in the House, and these changes account for why it failed. Here’s the breakdown of what caused H.R.7008 to die:

Republicans tied controversial riders to it, specifically the restrictive federal voting mandates from the SAVE Act (these including strict voter ID and limits to mail in voting). These exact provisions are unconstitutional and represent the true disingenuous nature of the GOP.

Additionally, there were significant loopholes built into the framework of this bill, these loopholes making any regulation of the bill’s original target demographic inherently weak and perfunctory. The bill did not implement a true ban on stock trading, allowing lawmakers to continue advantageous selling of existing stocks in their ownership.

This mostly failed on party lines, with a majority of “yea’s” coming from the GOP. Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, who has a documented record of trading stocks while serving in the Senate, voted “yea” on this. He also has a documented history of promoting disingenuous and easily disproven conspiracy theories about voting and voter fraud, along with spinning tall tales and dangerous lies about the January 6th insurrection. This was Senate vote #253 if you wish to double check his vote on this issue within the voter records of the United States Senate. This is a clear example of him voting for performative level “restrictions” on stock trading while also voting for Trump era Republican Party ideals of xenophobia and bigotry being shrouded behind an impossibly thin layer of virtue signaling and conservative labelled window dressing.

One more point that should be paid close attention to here is that 13 “Democrats” helped House Republicans pass H.R.7008, the Stop Insider Trading Act I’ve been referring to in this article, and the one which would have basically eliminated mail in voting in the United States. Here are those 13 Blue Maga Dems.

“The Democrats who voted in favor are Reps. Kathy Castor (Fla.), Henry Cuellar (Texas), Don Davis (NC), Jared Golden (Maine), Vicente Gonzalez (Texas), Josh Gottheimer (NJ), Marcy Kaptur (Ohio), Susie Lee (Nev.), Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.), Chris Pappas (NH), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wash.), Darren Soto (Fla.), and Derek Tran (Calif.).”

If you are able to vote them out, they are the same who have been voting against trans rights, the same who have been caving to republicans chopping away at the ACA, and so on. THEY NEED TO GO.

I hope you got some decent sleep for a while, because we’re back to trans apartheid.
