Paxton Prejudice has no place in America.
On Friday, the Senate Leadership Fund launched its first general election ad buy for the current election cycle. They did so by contributing $54 million to Ken Paxton’s Senate campaign. Ken Paxton is the Republican Senate nominee from Texas and is also the current Attorney General in Texas, a position he has held since January 2015.
I’ll be blunt. Ken Paxton is an awful human being. What do we know about Ken already?
In 2008, it was reported that he profited from state contracts awarded to a company he held investments in while voting on related state spending bills.
In 2015, he was indicted on felony securities fraud for failing to disclose details to investors in a tech startup he was involved with.
In 2020, he was accused by his own aides of bribery and abusing his public office to benefit a major donor. He was later ordered to pay millions in a whistleblower lawsuit from this.
In 2023, the Texas House impeached him on multiple articles involving corruption, bribery, and misuse of office. He was later acquitted by the Texas Senate because, you guessed it, it’s controlled by Republicans.
As Attorney General of Texas, Ken Paxton has enacted some of the worst restrictions and detrimental laws toward the trans community in the entire country. He has worked in tandem with Texas Governor Greg Abbott in these efforts.
He classified care as child abuse.
In 2022, he issued a formal legal opinion declaring that any form of physical gender affirming care being provided to minors constituted child abuse under Texas law. This included puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and transition surgeries. This opinion prompted Governor Gregg Abbott to direct the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to investigate families seeking gender affirming care for their children.
Ken then went on to extend this protocol to mental health providers.
In 2026, Paxton issued another legal opinion, this time stating that Senate Bill 14 also applied to mental health providers. Senate Bill 14 is the formal law passed by the Texas legislature which banned medical transition care for minors.
Under this new legal opinion, Texas counselors, social workers, psychologists, and therapists are legally banned from providing gender transitioning counseling or support to minors. This instance right here alone has caused unimaginable harm to trans kids in Texas.
In 2024, he issued Opinion KP-0489 regarding state identification documents. This opinion states:
“The “judicial power” endowed to district courts does not countenance ex parte orders directing state agencies to amend a person’s biological sex on driver’s licenses or birth certificates. The underlying proceedings are coram non judice, and the resulting orders are void. State agencies must immediately correct any unlawfully altered driver’s licenses or birth certificates that were changed pursuant to such orders.”
Following the issuance of this opinion, the Texas Department of Public Safety stopped accepting court orders to change sex markers on driver’s licenses and state ID’s.
In December 2025, he launched an online bathroom tip line. The purpose of this was to allow citizens (bigots) to report any alleged violations of Senate Bill 8 (the Texas Women’s Privacy Act), which restricts restroom and locker room access based on sex assigned at birth. Institutions found to be in violation face fines beginning at $25,000 for a first offense and up to $125,000 per day for subsequent offenses. This is blatant and open faced discrimination and undeniably unconstitutional.
He also initiated and pursued investigations into hospitals and advocacy groups. He launched legal investigations into major healthcare providers, such as Texas Children’s Hospital, which ultimately forced the facility to stop hormone therapies and transition care for minors.
Additionally, his office also pursued legal actions to force LGBTQ+ advocacy groups, such as PFLAG, to relinquish private documents regarding care for transgender youth. Along with everything mentioned, he was also the lone defendant in numerous cases in court defending State Senate Bill 12, which was passed by the Texas legislature in 2023. Texas Senate Bill 12 criminalized “sexually oriented performances” in public or in front of minors. While the final text of the law does not explicitly use the word “drag,” lawmakers openly stated that drag shows were the primary target. Under the law, businesses participating faced a $10,000 fine and performers faced up to a year in jail. Currently, this law was struck down on 25 August 2026 by U.S. District Court Judge David Hittner, who declared it unconstitutional and overly broad. He told critics who are offended by drag, “Just don’t go.” Paxton has vowed to appeal the decision to the 5th Circuit to reinstate the ban, calling it a “flawed decision that endangers our children and is an affront to Texas values.”
To date, Texas is the only state in the country where the executive branch has explicitly directed child welfare services to investigate parents for “child abuse” and threatened custody removal solely because they allowed their children to receive gender affirming care. This was done by Governor Greg Abbott under the pretext of Ken Paxton’s Opinion.
Now this man seeks election to the United States Senate. This would give him far reaching power to effectuate his disgusting level of discriminatory bigot coded anti-trans and anti-human rights ideals across all 50 states. He is running against Democratic nominee James Talarico. Ken Paxton represents the most hateful sentiments of our society. It is a comedic travesty that someone so despicably evil would even be a suggestion for the ballot, let alone be on it. He is also endorsed by Donald Trump, Trump’s endorsement bringing $10 million with it from his MAGA Inc. to help push this draconian bigot’s chances.
I lived in Austin, Texas for a short while in 2012 and 2013, and I’ll be level with you here: Texas is better than this. The people of that state are some of the finest folks I’ve ever met, and they’ve been gerrymandered red beyond belief. Contrary to surface perception, that state is purple, but you’d never know it, given the Republican district cheats that have been sewn into the system there.
If you live in Texas or know anyone who does, please encourage them to vote for James Talarico in November. This would not only close the door on Ken Paxton’s Senate aspirations, but it would also end his reign of terror as Attorney General of Texas, and it would do so by sending a strong message.
Paxton Prejudice has no place in America.
Period.
